The Company of Julyen Hamilton
For the past 26 years, I have been studying and working with the dancer and poet Julyen Hamilton, whose approach to improvisation has profoundly shaped my artistic practice. Since 2012, I have also been a member of Allen’s Line, his dance company. This long-term collaboration has been a fundamental part of my professional development, allowing me to deepen my understanding of improvisation, presence, and performance through continuous practice and exchange with one of the most influential figures in the field.
The work
The central theme is the work with dance, space, text and voice orchestrating all and each of these elements and doing it all on the fly as an instant composition in performance. Letting these areas of expression be made and housed all together, their individual qualities constantly interacting at different levels, weaving a whole, multi layered expression.
