SUMMARY:Berlin workshop
DESCRIPTION:Instant Composition\n  \nDance is a relational and dynamic human activity. Every movement arises from the encounter between the body\, others and the environment around us. The body does not simply occupy a space: it perceives it\, alters it and is continually transformed by it. It is within this ceaseless dialogue that dance takes shape. \nIn this workshop\, improvisation is explored as a practice of instant composition: a process in which perception and movement generate one another. Composition is not the result of a pre-established plan\, but emerges from attuning to the present moment and the ability to recognise the possibilities that each instant offers. \nThrough the experience of weight\, gravity\, contact and directions in space\, we will explore the ongoing relationship between the body and the world. Movement will arise from sensation; choreography from movement; performance from choreography. Dance thus becomes a way of knowing\, in which every movement is at once perception\, decision and continuous transformation. \nChoreography is constructed as it unfolds. The compositional material emerges from the interplay between intention\, imagination and circumstances. Just as a craftsman works the material in his hands\, the dancer learns to shape the movement that emerges in the present\, recognising its qualities and organising it in time and space. \nThis practice develops active listening\, a readiness to act\, trust in one’s intuition and the ability to inhabit the present moment in a natural and spontaneous way. The focus shifts from producing movements to cultivating the conditions in which dance can emerge. \nWe will work individually\, in pairs and in groups\, refining our ability to interpret the relationships that arise between bodies\, space and time.
